About the role
Customer Specialist
Walser South Metro | Burnsville, and Bloomington | Walser Automotive Group
Full-Time | $40,000 base + incentives | $70,000 to $100,000 typical earnings | No Experience Required
Most of our best Customer Specialists did not arrive knowing anything about cars. They arrived knowing how to show up, treat people well, and figure things out. We handled the rest, and we still do.
At Walser, we're committed to investing in our people. We foster a culture built on family, career growth, diversity, and opportunity.
About the RoleA Customer Specialist is the one person a customer works with from first hello to keys in hand. You are not passing them to a closer. You are not walking to the back to talk to a manager. Our pricing is transparent and posted, which means your job is not negotiating. It is listening, matching someone to the right vehicle, and making the process feel easy.
That changes what the job takes. The people who thrive here are not slick. They are curious, organized, and genuinely good with people.
One Person, Start to FinishNo handoffs, no haggling, no pressure. You own the relationship from the first conversation through delivery and beyond.
Where You Would WorkWalser Burnsville – Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Mazda
Walser Bloomington – Toyota and Buick GMC
Schedule and PayYour pay: $40,000 base salary plus incentive earnings. The base is your floor, not your target. Once established, Customer Specialists at Walser typically earn $70,000 to $100,000 per year, all in, and top performers earn more. New hires ramp into that, and we will be straight with you about what year one realistically looks like before you accept anything.
Your schedule: Full-time, including evenings and weekends. Saturdays are part of the rotation, as that is when many of our customers need us.
Training and DevelopmentEverything technical about this role is something we teach. With paid training and continued coaching afterward, you will learn:
How to run a deal from first conversation through delivery
Product knowledge across our brands, including what is on the vehicle and why it matters
Our pricing model, and how to explain it clearly and confidently
Financing, trade-in valuation, and the paperwork that makes a deal hold up
Our CRM, so your pipeline and follow-up never fall through
What You'll DoGuide customers through the full vehicle purchase from first hello to keys in hand
Listen first, and understand what someone actually needs before you show them anything
Know the inventory and the product well enough to answer real questions honestly
Run test drives, walk customers through features, and handle the delivery
Manage paperwork, financing conversations, and trade-in details accurately
Follow up after the sale and build a repeat and referral customer base that becomes your own
Keep your pipeline organized in our CRM so nothing and nobody falls through
Uphold Walser's Core Values: Do The Right Thing, Lead By Example, Display Positive Energy, Be Open Minded
Who We're Looking ForMany of our strongest Customer Specialists joined us from restaurants, retail, hospitality, call centers, and the trades. These are roles where you learn to read a person quickly, stay composed when things go sideways, and follow through on what you promised. Those qualities are difficult to teach, and they matter most in this job.
Not required: dealership experience, automotive knowledge, a technical background, or a college degree.
Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Our customers speak Spanish, Hmong, Somali, and other languages, and someone who can meet a guest in their own language makes a meaningful difference in that guest's experience. It is not required, but it is valued on this team.
What You BringA drive to learn. Curiosity and coachability are the core requirements of this role
The ability to work with urgency while remaining composed
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and genuine care for the customer experience
Organized self-starter habits. A lot of this job is follow-through nobody has to remind you about
Beginner to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

A Note on the WorkThis is a sales floor. You will be on your feet, indoors and outdoors, in Minnesota weather, and some days move quickly. If that sounds like your kind of day, we encourage you to apply.
If you want to be the person a customer asks for by name, we want to hear from you.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
