About the role
- Gain an overall understanding of OHA residents' needs and become familiar with community resources; Develop competencies in program development and implementation; Learn database software and track program benchmarks; Learn marketing and networking strategies; Personal Development
- Develop planning, organizational and time management skills; Increase knowledge of computer skills and technology; Develop team-based work competencies and professional ethics; Increase overall knowledge of community resources; Learn effective referral procedures.
- Marginal Functions
- Work evenings, weekends and other work-related duties as required.
- Minimum Qualification
- High School Diploma/GED or must be able to provide verification of enrollment in GED classes upon commencement of internship
- Must be a resident of the Oakland Housing Authority; on the lease and in good standing
- Some applicable work experience and/or training preferred. College experience is a plus
- Ability to pass a background screening and a drug test
- Strong desire for a career in community supportive services
- Bilingual skills in ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and/or Spanish are a plus.
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

- Knowledge Of:
- Modern office practices
- Basic computer functions including word processing
- Internet navigation
- Electronic correspondence and telephone systems.

- Be self-motivated
- Deliver excellent customer service to program participants and customers
- Exercise patience
- Practice professionalism and sensitivity with a diverse population
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
