CAM Tax Officer is a member of the Charitable Asset Management tax team, an important strategic partner and trusted tax advisor to our clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality tax administration, planning and advisory services. This role combines technical tax expertise, client relationship management, research, and strategic problem solving to support charitable trusts and related entities. The primary responsibility for the CAM Tax Officer is the preparation of federal and state fiduciary income tax returns of Charitable trusts. They must adhere to the objective of delivering timely and accurate tax administration services to our clients. The responsibilities will also include performing calculations of various tax scenarios, communicating with clients, providing tax analysis to Client Service officers and clients on tax planning issues and strategies. The CAM Tax Officer must have the ability to conduct independent research on planned giving-related tax topics and be able to generate value-added ideas to clients and to the team. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Serve as a trusted tax advisor to clients by identifying planning opportunities, analyzing complex tax issues, and developing proactive strategies designed to preserve and enhance charitable trust assets. Provide sophisticated fiduciary tax planning and consulting related to income distributions, charitable deductions, capital gains management, trust administration strategies, and changing federal and state tax laws. Act as a fiduciary tax subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, developing best practices, supporting complex client situations, and communicating regulatory and legislative developments to internal and external stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes through technology, automation, workflow optimization, and enhanced use of tax software and analytical tools. Analyze trusts and other documents to determine tax return filing requirements of assigned accounts. Monitor and review account transactions, disbursements and receipts to all accounts to ensure proper treatment for tax purposes. Prepare fiduciary tax returns, estimated tax payments and beneficiary K-1s for assigned trust accounts. Review tax returns and other work products prepared by other tax accountants and reports to the manager regarding the accuracy of the work product reviewed. Provide coaching, mentorship and technical guidance to tax professionals across the team. Successfully manage client relationships by consistently providing clients with timely and appropriate communication and services in relation to their needs. Participate and actively contribute to new business development activities. Effectively and appropriately respond to questions from clients and team members. Keep clients informed of the tax developments and other relevant facts that affect their business.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or Business Administration CPA or EA preferred Minimum of three years of direct fiduciary tax experience with an emphasis on the preparation of returns for charitable trusts Fast learner and ability to adapt to a fast-paced workload Excellent analytical, organizational, written and verbal communications skills Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage different clients Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels Computer proficiency and experience working with various trust accounting and tax software products Ability to conduct independent research and generate value-added ideas to clients Experience with 1041, 990 and 5227 tax forms a plus Tax Application experience (ONESOURCE, ProSystem fx, or Global Plus) is a plus
Salary Range: $80,000 - $140,000 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
