Recognition of the QAI name and logo have grown significantly over the past few years resulting in significant expansion of the business.We are looking for Lab Technicians to join our Building Products team in Miami, FL. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is very motivated and likes to be hands on and interested in working in a product testing laboratory with the ability to read and comprehend test standards and specifications for performing the testing. The ideal candidate would be someone with window testing background who would have gained the experience from knowledge in the product testing.Flexibility in work schedule and working overtime, if needed, is ideal.DUTIESThe successful candidate for this position will perform, but not limited to, the following duties:Building of test fixtures and assembliesExecution of provided work instructionsAssisting Senior technicians as assignedClean up, organization of inventoryWritten and verbal reports to clients and managementSomeone willing/able/interested in learning and growing from within the organizationOther duties as assigned by the manager or its designeeQUALIFICATIONThe successful candidate will have:Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required, other programs an asset)Safe working practice with tools associated with construction1-2 years of experience using a variety of power tools in a construction setting1-2 years of experience in using electrical or manual toolsAbility to read and interpret technical documents and drawingsGood knowledge of and adherence with safety standardsAttention to detailCritical thinker and problem-solving skillsTeam playerGood time-management skillsGreat interpersonal and communication skillsPreferredExperience working at an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratoryExperience working in the testing, inspection and certification industryKnowledge of common ASTM test methods relating to building productsExperience working in diverse teams of engineers, operations, sales and marketingFlexibility in work schedule and working overtime, if neededKey Technical Competence (Overall):Accepts instruction and follows it for testing outside of their general scope of knowledge and experience.Able to grasp general concepts in a field of testing and apply it to specific test methods.Able to perform simple testing and as knowledge grows in a specific field of testing graduates to more complex testing methods.Seeks assistance and knowledge from more senior personnel when a specific requirement is outside of their general scope of knowledge.Good working knowledge of the test methods in their specific discipline.Able to multi-task with some degree of efficiency and accuracy.Maintains a sense of ownership and responsibility for projects assigned to them.Additional Assets include:Forklift experience or certificationPrevious experience in construction industryJoin our Team!
