About the Opportunity: A well-established engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a reliable, mechanically inclined Field Technician to support environmental projects at a variety of active project sites. This is a hands-on, field-based position involving environmental system monitoring, mechanical adjustments, sampling, and frequent travel. Project locations may include military installations, VA medical centers, aerospace facilities, and other government or commercial sites. This is a great opportunity for someone with a mechanical maintenance background who enjoys working outdoors, traveling, troubleshooting equipment, and working in a role where no two days are exactly the same.
What You'll Do: Monitor environmental remediation systems and accurately record pressure, flow, and vacuum gauge readings. Make adjustments to pumps, blowers, and related equipment to maintain proper system performance. Perform occasional light maintenance and basic troubleshooting at project sites. Collect groundwater, soil, and stormwater samples for environmental testing and laboratory analysis. Maintain accurate field records, data logs, and chain-of-custody documentation. Travel regularly to project sites throughout Florida and, when needed, other locations within the United States. Work outdoors in active field environments while following applicable safety procedures.
What We're Looking For: Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment and systems. Ability to understand pressure, flow, vacuum, pumps, blowers, gauges, or similar equipment. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or an associate degree is a plus. Comfortable working outdoors and performing light physical work. Willing and able to travel frequently. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field data. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Military Mechanical Experience Highly Valued Candidates with hands-on military mechanical experience are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with backgrounds in: Army vehicle maintenance Navy aviation structural mechanics Military equipment or vehicle maintenance Aviation maintenance Mechanical systems or similar technical specialties Comparable civilian mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, pump, industrial, or field service experience will also be considered.
