About the role

School Bus DriverThis position is responsible for providing safe transportation of students to and from school activities, including sporting events, practices, competitions, and tournaments. This position will require working on evenings and weekends, and will involve both in-state and out-of-state travel. The driver will be required to perform a daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection, and will be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for students. Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge, skill, and abilities. Requires a valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's license with the Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake endorsements. The candidate will also need to complete the VDOE School Bus Driver training program. All training and licensing can be provided in-house at no cost.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for driving a school bus in accordance with all local, State, and Federal policies and regulations
  • Assists students with boarding and exiting the bus safely
  • Responsible for the completion of daily pre-trip, post-trip, and vehicle defect reports.
  • Responsible for completing all required reports and forms at the conclusion of each trip
  • Cleans the interior and exterior of the bus to ensure safe operation and appropriate conditions for students.
  • Other duties as assigned
