Location:
This position may be based remotely, with reasonable proximity to a major airport, or positioned as a hybrid role near one of MTC’s office locations in Tampa, FL; Fairfax, VA; Denver, CO; or Las Vegas, NV.
Job Summary:
The VP, Senior Fiduciary Officer (SFO) and Trust Strategist serves as a senior fiduciary advisor and subject matter expert responsible for providing guidance and oversight on fiduciary matters while supporting the growth, retention, and development of trust relationships and strategic partnerships. This role utilizes advanced fiduciary expertise to mitigate risk on new business opportunities, and to attract, retain and grow Trust Services clients. The SFO and Trust Strategist works primarily with MTC’s Wealth Management Consultants (WMCs), Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) partners, Centers of Influence (COIs) and clients in the directed and delegated trust space. The role may also provide fiduciary support to MTC’s credit union agency partners and private offices on an as-needed basis. This individual is experienced in trust administration and serves as an expert presenter and subject-matter expert on estate planning and trust administration matters. This individual also serves as an active member of the Trust Administrative Committee (TAC). Primary Duties and Responsibilities Serves as a fiduciary subject-matter expert to Wealth Management Consultants, RIA partners, COIs, and clients on new fiduciary business opportunities. Partners with Wealth Management Consultants in providing excellent customer service to RIA partners, COIs, and clients, including but not limited to building and maintaining positive relationships, understanding partner and client needs, and helping to resolve issues or complaints. Collaborates with Wealth Management Consultants to cultivate and expand strategic referral relationships, including RIAs, attorneys, and other Centers of Influence, helping drive new trust opportunities and client retention efforts. Participates in prospect meetings and assists in the successful acquisition of new client relationships through fiduciary consultation and expertise. Reviews estate planning documents and supporting documentation for adherence to account acceptance standards, while providing guidance on MTC’s account acceptance and fiduciary administration standards. Makes decisions on new account pre-acceptance and provides final risk approval prior to submission to the Trust Administrative Committee (TAC), using prudent fiduciary judgment. Works closely with internal fiduciary partners to address potential legal, risk, or compliance concerns prior to the acceptance of new business. Serves as an active, impartial member of the Trust Administrative Committee (TAC).Identifies emerging fiduciary risks, develops risk mitigation strategies, and assists in establishing best practices related to account acceptance, trust administration, and fiduciary decision-making. In partnership with the Wealth Management Consultant, provides a smooth transition of new account information to other internal business partners (i.e. Trust Business Support, Fiduciary Administration, Investment and Trust Operations), and a smooth client and Center of Influence (COI) handoff to the assigned trust officer. Provides subject-matter and risk support to trust officers during account administration. May be asked to provide subject-matter and risk support to MTC’s credit union agency partners and private offices on an as-needed basis, and to serve as a back-up to other Senior Fiduciary Officers. Represents MTC as a fiduciary thought leader and participant through public-speaking engagements, webinars, conferences and partner events. Provides subject-matter content review of MTC presentations, brochures, and marketing materials. Provides mentoring and fiduciary guidance to other team members to strengthen fiduciary expertise across the organization. Engages in on-going training to stay up to date on fiduciary topics. Participates in projects and/or introduction of new initiatives, systems, product/services and processes. Leverages data analytics, AI, automation tools, CRM systems and other emerging technologies to improve risk identification, operational efficiency, client service, knowledge management and fiduciary decision-making while maintaining appropriate regulatory oversight and professional judgment. Timely and accurate completion of CRM activity tracking, status updates, and related reporting requirements. Appropriate use of technology, AI, automation, and process improvement tools to enhance efficiency, risk management, and client service. Positive partner, client, and colleague feedback reflecting responsiveness, judgment, professionalism, and practical fiduciary guidance.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Juris Doctorate (J.D.), CFP®, CTFA, or other advanced fiduciary, legal, tax, trust, estate planning, or wealth management designation preferred. Minimum ten years of experience required in risk management, compliance, legal, and/or wealth management, with at least five years of experience in trust administration preferred.
