Live Haul Driver
Key Responsibilities: Safely transport live ducks according to assigned third-shift Live Haul schedules. Complete daily pre-trip inspections and frequent vehicle walk-arounds to ensure trucks and trailers are safe and operational. Check and replenish fuel, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), oil, coolant, and other vehicle fluids as needed. Address minor equipment issues and promptly report mechanical concerns to Shop Personnel. Maintain accurate driver logs using a logbook or Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with DOT regulations. Follow traffic laws, defensive driving practices, and current road and weather conditions. Safely load and unload live, process-aged ducks in accordance with Duck Care, Duck Handling, and Duck Well-Being Guidelines. Assist other drivers, Holding House personnel, and Distribution Center management with loading, unloading, and truck or trailer movement. Maintain truck-cab cleanliness and follow biosecurity requirements related to premise entry, flock scheduling, and exposure to poultry or swine. Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, Shop Personnel, Holding House employees, and other team members.
Qualifications: Valid CDL Class A license required. Current DOT physical required. Ability to safely operate commercial trucks, trailers, and related equipment. Ability to maintain DOT-compliant driver logs using a logbook or ELD.Knowledge of standard operating procedures, traffic laws, and company safety policies. Ability to complete required defensive driving, safety, duck well-being, and biosecurity certifications. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Dependable attendance and availability to work a flexible third-shift schedule based on Live Haul needs. Schedule This is a full-time, third-shift CDL driving position. Home daily. Regular schedule is Sunday night through Thursday night. Occasional weekend work may be required. Most overtime hours are worked during the week. Work hours are based on Live Haul schedules and may vary according to operational needs.
