About the role
We are looking for pianist in the San Jose, CA area. Spirit Care Ministry to Seniors (https://www.spiritcareministry.org/) provides worship services and spiritual support to people of all faiths in care communities. We need a pianist to accompany the singing for a service on the 3rd Friday of each month at Westgate Villa San Jose. This is an ideal position for a hobby pianist, a college student, a retiree who loves church music, or an accompanist who would like to donate their time. You will play five, pre-selected hymns, as well as some background music. Most of our hymns are traditional favorites as shown at the You Tube link here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeXBVY4R5ycHA5dhyLAt-Aw/playlists There are also opportunities to play at other care communities in the area. For Spirit Care's ministry, hymn singing is more than music—it's a way of helping seniors experience joy, community, and the comfort of God's love. We would like to talk with you and schedule a time for you to observe a Spirit Care service. This is a joyful ministry where a simple gift—playing familiar hymns—can brighten someone's day, awaken cherished memories, and remind seniors that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
