About the role
The Assistant Counsel supports the Office of Cannabis Management's Legal Division, reporting to the General Counsel. The role manages legal matters including agency contracts, human resources issues, FOIL requests, and administrative support, providing technical legal advice to executive leadership. Responsibilities include monitoring labor relations, developing ethics policies, conducting legal research, reviewing procurements, and potentially supervising other attorneys.
Key qualifications:
Admission to and membership in good standing of the New York State Bar
Two years of subsequent professional legal experience
Valid New York State Driver's License or capacity to meet transportation needs
Experience with labor relations and employment law
Contract review and legal research skills
