About the role

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and maintaining accurate financial records for a large-scale residential property management operation. This role supports the integrity of financial reporting by performing account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and assisting with audits and monthly closings. The Senior Accountant will work collaboratively with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of income, expenses, and financial activity. Essential Functions and
Responsibilities: Prepare and review accurate and timely financial information in accordance with the established monthly closing schedule. Perform detailed account analysis and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger. Review bank reconciliations prepared by the staff accountant monthly, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies. Analyze accounts for variances, discrepancies, and irregularities, and report findings to the Assistant Controller. Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and maintain proper supporting documentation. Review and analyze prepaid expense schedules to ensure proper expense recognition. Review billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain and update financial records, including income and itemized expenses, to reflect current and accurate information. Participate in the annual audit process, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation. Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and enhance financial reporting procedures. Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)Minimum of 5+ years of experience in general accounting Experience with computerized accounting/ledger systems Experience with Yardi preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Possess leadership skills to help mentor the staff accountant
