Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is hiring a Principal Product Designer to lead high-impact design across AWS AI Services’ AI/ML portfolio.
Responsibilities: Lead strategic, portfolio-level design initiatives across Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, plus the broader AWS AI/ML portfolio Own design for consequential and ambiguous customer problems spanning developer experiences and interaction models Define the future of AI developer experiences, covering how builders create, evaluate, deploy, govern, and operate generative AI applications and agents on AWSGo beyond UI by shaping technology with deep involvement in architecture, APIs, data models, and developer workflows Bring clarity to unclear problem spaces using customer insight, systems thinking, product judgment, and prototyping Set a high design quality bar through hands‑on craft: continue designing and shipping, explore alternatives and tradeoffs, prototype rapidly, validate ideas with customers, and drive execution from concept to detailed delivery Create coherence across the portfolio by identifying where customers experience fragmentation across AWS AI Services and establishing shared interaction models, frameworks, and reusable patterns Partner across organizational boundaries by building trusted relationships with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Science, and UXBring customer evidence and design thinking into strategic decisions and help align teams with different technical constraints, priorities, or viewpoints Raise the design bar beyond individual contributions through critique, direction, and reusable approaches for other teams Mentor designers working through complex technical problems and support broader org-wide design quality
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of design experience
  • Available online portfolio
  • Experience with best practices for
  • User Interface Design , Information Architecture, and
  • Interaction Design
  • Experience deliveringlife cycledesign projects from design strategy through execution
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment, including completing complex tasks quickly with limited guidance and responding with appropriate urgency
  • Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Senior Leadership
  • Experience providing training and mentorship 3+ years designing and shippingdeveloper-facing AI/ML products, including understanding the end‑to‑end agent development lifecycle: model hosting, deployment, observability, and evaluation
  • Design across APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and console experiences, with technical depth to understand developer workflows and influence underlying interfaces and abstractions
  • Ability to design in code‑based prototypes and work comfortably with code
Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVisionExperience designing products for AWS or another major cloud platform, with an understanding of enterprise cloud customer needs
