About the Company: A growing government contracting organization is seeking a Corporate Controller to provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all accounting and finance functions.
About the Role: This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting government contract compliance, managing indirect rates, and overseeing financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical accounting expertise, government contracting experience, and the ability to develop scalable financial processes that support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting activities. Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end/year-end close processes. Ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk. Coordinate annual audits and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and financial systems that support continued growth.
Government Contract Accounting & Compliance: Manage and analyze indirect rates, including Fringe, Overhead, and General & Administrative (G&A) indirect rate forecasts and support provisional billing rate submissions. Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, DCAA, and other federal contracting incurred cost submissions, DCAA audits, and government financial reviews. Monitor contract funding, labor utilization, revenue recognition, and project financial performance. Maintain project accounting practices across various contract types, including CPFF, T&M, FFP, and IDIQ contracts.
Proposal Pricing & Business Support: Support proposal development efforts through pricing models, labor rate calculations, indirect rate applications, and cost volume and review Basis of Estimate (BOE) documentation, pricing narratives, and cost proposals for federal opportunities. Partner with business development, capture, and program management teams to support proposal and pricing strategies.
Revenue Cycle Management: Ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing and revenue recognition. Implement and maintain processes that improve billing efficiency and collections. Oversee payroll tax reporting and related compliance requirements.
Leadership & Process Improvement: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team. Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system and implement policies and procedures that enhance operational and financial efficiency. Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership on financial and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred. MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.8-12+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, preferably within a government contracting environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting and finance teams. Experience supporting federal government contracts; DoD experience preferred. Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, DCAA requirements, and government contractor accounting practices. Experience managing, forecasting, and analyzing indirect rates, including Fringe, Overhead, and G&A.Experience supporting incurred cost submissions, provisional billing rates, and government audits. Experience developing pricing models, cost proposals, labor rate structures, and Basis of Estimate (BOE) of project accounting and federal contract types, including CPFF, T&M, FFP, and IDIQ.Proficiency with ERP and financial management systems.
