Job DescriptionProject Manager – Restaurant ConstructionLocation: New York, NY – Hybrid / Northeast TravelSalary: $100,000–$150,000 + BonusExperience: 5–7 YearsThe OpportunityA rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality company is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join its development team and help manage new locations throughout the Northeast.This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with approximately 5–7 years of experience who is ready to take on greater ownership and work directly with senior construction leadership.Candidates may come from either a general contractor or owner/developer environment. Restaurant, retail, hospitality, and other high-volume commercial construction backgrounds are particularly relevant.The Project Manager will oversee projects from early site diligence and preconstruction through construction, turnover, and opening.ResponsibilitiesManage multiple construction projects from preconstruction through completion and turnover.Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestone tracking.Coordinate architects, engineers, general contractors, consultants, vendors, landlords, and internal stakeholders.Conduct site diligence and evaluate prospective locations for construction feasibility.Review existing conditions, MEP infrastructure, utilities, ADA requirements, structural considerations, and other potential constructability issues.Manage GC bidding, RFPs, bid leveling, and contractor recommendations.Oversee general contractors throughout construction and hold project teams accountable for schedule, cost, and quality.Review change orders, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and field conditions.Identify project risks early and develop solutions before they impact cost or schedule.Coordinate permitting, municipal approvals, and third-party consultants.Manage FF&E, equipment, signage, technology, and specialty vendors.Conduct regular site visits and resolve field issues.Manage punch lists, project closeout, and turnover to Operations.Assist with warranty and post-opening construction issues.QualificationsApproximately 5–7 years of construction project management experience.Experience working for a general contractor, owner/developer, restaurant group, retail organization, or hospitality company.Demonstrated experience independently managing construction projects.Strong understanding of project schedules, budgets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and construction documents.Experience managing general contractors and subcontractors.Restaurant, QSR, retail, or hospitality construction experience strongly preferred.Multi-unit or rollout construction experience is a plus.Familiarity with restaurant-specific systems such as kitchen exhaust, grease, refrigeration, gas, and food-service equipment is beneficial.Experience with Procore, Smartsheet, or similar project management platforms preferred.Ability to travel to active project sites throughout the Northeast.What We're Looking ForTechnical construction experience is important, but we're equally interested in how you think and operate as a Project Manager.This organization has a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where team members are expected to develop their own opinions, communicate directly, and challenge ideas when appropriate.The successful candidate will be someone who:Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.Identifies problems early and brings potential solutions.Is comfortable questioning a contractor's pricing, schedule, or proposed approach.Can make decisions with incomplete information.Develops an independent point of view and can clearly explain the reasoning behind it.Communicates directly and respectfully when they disagree.Is willing to stand behind a recommendation while remaining open to better information.Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities and project conditions can change quickly.This is not a role for someone who simply tracks schedules and processes paperwork.
