About the role
- Receive and process donations from members of the community
- Welcome donors and provide friendly, respectful customer service
- Assist donors with unloading donations and issue donation receipts
- Share the Hearts Thrift Stores mission and thank donors for their support
- Screen incoming donations according to company guidelines
- Sort and separate donated materials
- Identify quality merchandise and seek guidance from management when needed
- Price, tag, and organize merchandise for the retail sales floor
- Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Meet daily production expectations and accurately report production numbers
- Communicate any challenges or barriers that may affect production
- Keep donation, presort, processing, and staging areas clean, organized, and ready for the next shift
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to management
- Follow company policies, procedures, donation guidelines, and pricing standards
- Work with volunteers and provide clear direction when needed
- Work independently and responsibly to complete assigned duties
- Follow the Code of Conduct outlined in the employee handbook
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Availability to work flexible shifts Monday–Saturday
- Ability to work a minimum of two Saturdays per month
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move boxes and bags of donated items weighing up to 35 pounds
- Basic computer skills, including email, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and point-of-sale systems
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Retail or sales experience preferred
- Experience working with volunteers preferred
