About the role
Independent Contractor Optometrist for Veterans Benefits Administration We are seeking a skilled and compassionate optometrist to serve as an independent contractor conducting Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) disability assessments. This role is ideal for professionals seeking flexibility, autonomy, and a meaningful way to support our nation's veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye exams and visual function evaluations in accordance with VBA protocols
- Assess service-connected conditions such as ocular trauma, refractive errors, retinal disease, and other vision-related impairments
- Document findings using standardized reporting formatsno treatment or follow-up care required
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working with sensitive veteran health information
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Active and unrestricted license to practice optometry in the state of service
- Prior experience with VA or disability assessments preferred but not required
- Strong clinical documentation and interpersonal skills
