Summary Purdue University is seeking a Lecturer to teach undergraduate teacher preparation coursework in Educational Psychology. Courses taught may vary and may be online or in person.
Job Description:
The Department of Educational Studies () at Purdue University invites applications for a 9-month Lecturer position in Educational Psychology to begin in January or August of 2027. The successful candidate will teach 4 courses per semester in our undergraduate teacher education program in the areas of Learning and Motivation, Classroom Assessment, and/or Creating and Managing Learning Environments. The lecturer hired to fill this position will have the opportunity to work with existing faculty on course development and improvements as desired, including in relation to accreditation and assessment of teacher candidates. Because this position involves teaching within teacher preparation programs, the lecturer may engage in program accreditation-related activities. Teaching and learning-related service and program activities, as well other assigned responsibilities may, in some cases, count toward the teaching load. The successful candidate may collaborate with educational psychology colleagues to determine which courses best fit their abilities, experience, and expertise. Qualifications:
- Hold a Master's degree or Ph.D. in educational psychology or a closely related field
- Have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience working in P-12 settings, and
- Demonstrate a record of teaching excellence in P-12 school settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in various higher education settings, including online and in-person formats
- Experience teaching multiple grades and/or in differing P-12 contexts (urban, rural, etc.)Evidence of advanced knowledge and expertise in practical education, psychology content, classroom management, and/or classroom assessment
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based classroom practice and supporting students in developing skills in identifying, understanding, and implementing such practice in P-12 settings
- SalarySalary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- January 4, 2027, or August 16, 2027 (one week before the associated semester begins).

This statement should not exceed two pages. The personal history statement should include, at a minimum, relevant background information about your journey as a teacher and professional; examples of how you connect with and make content relevant for students of differing capabilities, backgrounds and experiences; and anything else about your personal history that would assist the search committee in understanding and evaluating you as a teacher and candidate. This statement should not exceed one page.
