About the Opportunity: My client, one of the fastest-growing multi-location consumer retail companies in the country, is looking to hire a Tax Manager focused on indirect tax. This is a hands-on, individual contributor seat, not a management role, for someone who wants to own outcomes directly rather than inherit someone else's process. This position centers on indirect tax, with real weight on hands-on compliance work, analytical rigor, and staying ahead of risk as the business scales. You'll step into a newly created seat that doesn't come with an established playbook yet. If ownership over process, not people, is what you're after, this is worth a conversation.
Responsibilities: Build a multi-state indirect tax calendar from scratch, covering every filing deadline and remittance across the footprint Take new states through the full path from initial research to a live, filed process Serve as the internal point of contact for indirect tax questions from other departments Review and manage the output of the outside firm handling actual filings Spot exposure across jurisdictions early and bring solutions, not just problems Work independently as an individual contributor, owning outcomes directly with no direct reports Must-

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
