About the role
- Inspecting and logging borings
- Field soil classifications
- Test pits, cone penetration testing (CPT), and other field testing
- Perform pre- and post-condition surveys of buildings and structures
- Perform and oversee instrumentation monitoring for buildings, transit facilities, and infrastructure (e.g., seismographs, crack gauges)
- Perform and/or oversee inspections for new foundation construction, including:
- Deep and shallow foundations
- Subgrade preparation
- Support of excavation systems
- Underpinning systems
- Pile load testing
- Interpret soil and rock testing data to define subsurface conditions and develop parameters for analysis and design
- Assist in developing geotechnical models and subsurface profiles
- Prepare daily field logs and communicate investigation or construction progress with project teams
- Prepare and review inspection logs and reports for construction approval and code compliance
- Assist in the preparation of geotechnical engineering and construction reports
- Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and clients as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Navigate construction sites and office environments
- Alternate between stationary work and active movement on job sites
- Lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders and stairs; stoop, kneel, and crouch to access instruments
- Navigate uneven terrain and varying site conditions
- Work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Operate computers, tools, and specialized field instrumentation
- Work in environments with varying noise levels
- Base Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000, commensurate with experience, education, certifications, and market conditions
