Senior Transportation Engineering Project ManagerAlta Planning + Design is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineering Project Manager to join our Seattle practice. This role focuses on active, multimodal, and sustainable transportation and will contribute to projects that positively impact communities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Projects range from natural surface trails to arterial multi-use paths, Complete Streets, and regional/multi-state bicycle and trail networks.Day to Day responsibilities:Managing a variety of transportation projects from design through construction. Drive the success of engineering projects and influence sustainable project outcomes; manage project budgets.Implementing best practices and process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.Mentoring staff and supporting internal professional development and training for the technical engineering team.Providing leadership and technical expertise to the Engineering team; collaborating with planning, landscape, and data disciplines as needed.Preparing schedules, budgets, and scopes of services for projects.Workload balancing.Support regional leadership in business development.QualificationsRequired12+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity; 5+ years as a Project Manager; 3+ years managing staff.Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or Traffic Engineer TE licensure.Experience in active, non-motorized transportation.Demonstrated understanding of and experience preparing Plans, Specifications and Estimates packages for roadway projects, with a detailed understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques.Ability to guide staff and manage internal team expectations.Strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta's marketplace position.Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects with cross-functional teams within budget and schedule constraints.Ability and willingness to travel.Excellent professional ethics, leadership, accountability, and decision-making capabilities.Working knowledge of MS Office tools and MS Project or equivalent.Proficiency in civil engineering software: GEOPAK, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, InRoads, etc.Proficiency with an enterprise-wide resource planning and project management tool.PreferredMaster's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.Experience managing large projects for private and public clients.Experience using Deltek Vision.Active participation in industry-relevant professional associations and committees.What We OfferFlexible ScheduleAlta offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule where most employees work from home three days per week.
