About the role

Description
The Role: Aradigm is a public benefit corporation helping people with cancer and other serious diseases access life-changing cell and gene therapies that can potentially cure them. We do this through a new coverage model for self-insured employers and health plans, and behind that model is a lot of data: claims and eligibility feeds, drug pricing, epidemiology, and the reference data that ties it all together. We're hiring two Software Engineers, among the first engineering hires after our Head of Engineering, to build the platform that runs Aradigm. Our engineers aim to automate their own jobs away so they can move on to the next big engineering challenge. That takes many forms: implementing a new data feed, building an internal tool, or shipping an agent that runs a recurring workflow like an opportunity analysis end to end. Most of the work is greenfield, on a nascent platform you'll help shape. You'll own business outcomes, not just code, with the autonomy to match: you'll scope problems with the people you serve, set priorities, and ship end to end. You'll report to our Head of Engineering and work alongside our data team. We're flat by design: no ladder to climb, and growth comes from scope and ownership. We work remotely within the US, with a strong preference for the East Coast and travel to our NYC office 3–5 times a year.
What Success Looks Like: Within your first year, you've built at least one agentic automation that the team uses every day.
What You'll Do: Build data infrastructure: implement new data feeds, and model and serve claims, eligibility, pricing, epidemiology, and reference data in BigQuery with pipelines that are tested, observable, and trusted Automate the work, including your own: when a task repeats, turn it into a tool or an agent workflow instead of doing it again Build agent harnesses: MCP servers, tools, context, evals, and guardrails that let existing models like Claude reliably handle recurring work. We don't build or train models; we build what lets them do useful work safely Build internal tools: create the tools our clinical, actuarial, operations, sales, and finance teammates use daily, starting from their problem rather than a spec Ship with rigor: practice trunk-based development, write tests, run CI/CD, review code, and manage infrastructure as code on GCPBuild securely: handle sensitive health data responsibly, and work with our Security Engineer so designs hold up to HITRUST and SOC 2 scrutiny
Compensation & Benefits: $140,000–$165,000 base salary, health coverage, equity, and 401(k). We're a flat organization, so where you start in this range depends on your experience and the impact we expect you to have from day one. Don't meet every qualification above? Apply anyway. If the rest of this role excites you, we'd like to hear from you.
Requirements
Must Haves: Must be authorized to work in the United States; Aradigm does not sponsor work visas Because our work includes government programs such as Medicaid, you must pass a background check and federal exclusion and debarment screening at hire and annually, and comply with our data use agreements Great to HaveStrong Python and SQL, with real engineering habits: testing, CI/CD, code review, and infrastructure as code are how you work, not extras3–6 years of professional software or data engineering experience, ideally in health tech or another highly regulated industry You've owned a production system end to end that other people depended on, and you can take a loosely defined problem, scope it, and ship it without someone checking in daily You learn what the job needs: when a tool, framework, or domain is new to you, you pick it up quickly because the outcome depends on itNice to HaveThe ideal candidate brings all of these on day one. If you can speak in depth to two or three of them from past work, we want to talk to you. Production experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery preferred) and reliable data pipelinesLLM-powered tooling that people actually used, such as tool-calling apps, MCP servers, or agent workflows built with the Claude Agent SDK or similar frameworks Working in TypeScriptHealthcare data such as medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility files, or pricing data, including work under HIPAAModeling data with dbt Time as an early engineer at a startup
Benefits: $140,000–$165,000 base salary, health coverage, equity, and 401(k). We're a flat organization, so where you start in this range depends on your experience and the impact we expect you to have from day one.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
