Job Description:
Job Description Skilled Trades is currently looking for HVAC techs for the Quad Cities area. We are seeking a reliable and skilled HVAC Technician to handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. You will be responsible for ensuring customer comfort and system efficiency by diagnosing mechanical failures, performing routine tune-ups, and installing new hardware in residential or commercial settings.
Key Responsibilities:
System Installation: Install new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including ductwork, piping, wiring, and smart thermostats. Running refrigeration piping
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues to pinpoint malfunctioning parts like compressors, motors, and electrical controls.
Routine Maintenance: Perform regular preventative maintenance (e.g., cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, testing safety controls) to prolong system lifespan.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain exact compliance with environmental regulations, specifically handling, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants.
Customer Service: Explain system issues clearly to homeowners or business managers, provide accurate repair estimates, and offer advice on system operations and energy efficiency.
Documentation: Keep detailed digital records of all service calls, parts replaced, work hours, and equipment warranty details.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited HVAC training program or trade school.
Certifications:
EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) is strictly required for handling refrigerants.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of field experience preferred (residential or commercial).
Skills:
Strong understanding of HVAC wiring diagrams, gas piping, refrigeration cycles, and digital diagnostic tools (multimeters, gauges).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces (crawls spaces, attics), and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Driving Record: Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate a company service vehicle.
- Background check and pre-employment drug screening required
- Hourly rate will be determined upon experience $27.00-$32.00
