What You'll Do: Move structural steel and materials across the yard and shop Load/unload trucks using forklifts, cranes, and equipment Organize, tag, and track materials for production Support machine operators by staging materials and keeping workflows moving Perform basic equipment checks and keep operations running smoothly Experience in warehouse, construction, or hands-on work Comfort with physical work (lifting, moving, working outdoors)Ability to work independently on 2nd shift while staying aligned with the team Strong awareness of production flow and how to support machine operators Safety-first mindset and strong work ethic Willingness to learn equipment and grow your skills What You Will Bring 2+ years of forklift operation, ideally sit-down counterbalance or large-capacity lifts handling long or heavy loads (beams, pipe, lumber, precast). A telehandler is a plus. Overhead or bridge crane experience, including basic rigging with slings, chokers, clamps, magnets, and spreader bars. Signal person or rigger certification (NCCCO or similar) is a bonus, not a requirement. Background in a steel service center, metal supply yard, fab shop, lumber yard, precast plant, or building supply yard. These are the closest matches. Transferable backgrounds that also work: warehouse, construction laborer, farm, landscaping, or any job running equipment outdoors. Loading and unloading flatbeds, including dunnage, load balance, and familiarity with straps, chains, and securement. Material tracking: reading tags, piece marks, and cut lists, using a tape measure accurately, keeping counts, and doing basic inventory or scanning. Staging material for machine operators or a production line, with an understanding of sequencing and what's needed next. Daily pre-shift equipment inspections on forklifts, cranes, and rigging, plus reporting defects instead of working around them. Physical work: lifting 50+ lbs regularly, being on their feet all shift, and working outdoors in all weather. A track record on 2nd shift or other independent shifts with less supervision, showing reliability and attendance. A clean safety record and the ability to describe specific safety habits, such as tag lines, keeping clear of suspended loads, and spotters.
