Senior Security Systems Engineer Preceptor Security Group Remote (15-20% Travel)Salary DOEAbout the Role Preceptor Security Group is seeking a Senior ESS Engineer to lead the design, execution, and delivery of advanced electronic security system projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and can take ownership from concept through commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, field teams, and leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.
What You’ll Do:
· Lead system design, engineering, and technical execution for security projects (VMS, access control, cameras, infrastructure)· Review drawings, specifications, and perform takeoffs and design markups· Develop shop drawings, programming requirements, and system architecture· Support project teams with scheduling, coordination, and technical guidance· Perform and oversee system programming, testing, and commissioning· Drive quality control, including internal punch lists and field validation· Support change orders, including technical scope, pricing, and impacts· Assist with project closeout, including as-builts, documentation, and client training· Collaborate with subcontractors and ensure alignment with PSG standards What We’re Looking For· 5+ years of experience in electronic security systems engineering· Strong background in:· Video Management Systems (VMS)· Access Control Systems· IP-based security infrastructure· System Integration· Programming/coding (Prefferred)· Experience with system design, programming, and commissioning· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently· Experience working alongside project managers and field teams· Willingness to be hands-on and engaged in both office and field environments What Sets You Apart· Experience with enterprise-level or integrated security systems· Familiarity with platforms like Milestone, Genetec, Lenel, or similar· Strong understanding of networking and system integration· Proven ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish Why Join PSG· High-impact role with ownership and visibility· Opportunity to help shape engineering standards and processes· Collaborative, team-oriented environment· Work on complex, real-world security challenges If you’re looking for a role where you can combine technical expertise, field execution, and real project ownership, we’d like to hear from you.
