About the role
Our global client is in search of a Sustainability & Compliance Specialist to join their team! This role is fully remote, based out of the United States. The Sustainability & Compliance Specialist is accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of environmental & social data and documentation. They will maintains supply chain and product-level environmental & social data across internal systems. Manage facility-level certifications and the supporting audit documentation. Serve as the first-line responder for incoming customer environmental and social inquiries, drafting responses and escalating novel or high-risk requests. Finally, the role administers the ESG platforms and prepares data for external reporting under the direction of the Sr. Director of ESG.
Responsibilities:
Maintain subcontractor and brand audit documentation to ensure records remain accurate and current. Support FSC certification activities, maintain recycled (GRS/RCS) & organic (GOTS) certificates, and cotton chain of custody documentation. Coordinate annual Higg Index submissions and manage ESG data for annual Eco Vadis submissions. Maintain Environmental Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting data Coordinate and maintain recycled content inventory transitions for customer programs. Support and be a part of the implementation plan for facility registrations Own the platform for customer supplier ESG programs, including monitoring supplier audit schedules, remediation status, and ESG records within customer and internal platforms. Support the Quality Director on facility audit programs by monitoring audit schedules, remediation progress, and supporting FEMA documentation as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in ESG, supplier compliance, sustainability, regulatory compliance, or related field. Experience with supplier audits, sustainability certifications, or ESG reporting preferred. Knowledge of SMETA / Other Audit Schemes, FSC, GRS/RCS/GOTS, Eco Vadis, Higg Index, EPR, and ethical sourcing programs preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
A continuous learning mindset and self-motivated to improve processes Strong organizational and data management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Knowledge of ESG frameworks, ethical sourcing programs, and sustainability certifications. Ability to manage multiple customer requests and questionnaires Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems
