Summary:
The Commercial Portfolio Manager oversees all aspects of commercial portfolio management for an assigned loan portfolio, ensuring portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. This role collaborates with Lenders, Credit Officers, and Commercial Loan Administrators to maintain high-quality credit administration and effective risk management, while providing advanced credit analysis and supporting strategic decision-making for the Bank's commercial lending activities.
Commercial Portfolio Manager Job Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow, balance sheet, and income statement review to assess borrower creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda, risk assessment reports, and financial models to support lending decisions.
Monitor the existing loan portfolio for financial performance, covenant compliance, and risk rating accuracy; identify potential breaches and recommend corrective action.
Review loan concentrations, assess portfolio risk exposure, and propose risk mitigation strategies, including documentation and action plans for problem loans.
Ensure loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with bank policy and regulatory requirements, including modifications, renewals, and restructuring.
Prepare internal and external reporting including term sheets, commitment letters, and post-closing memos; support audits and regulatory examinations.
Partner with Lenders and clients to facilitate loan approvals, renewals, ongoing portfolio management, and relationship growth.
Provide mentorship to junior credit analysts on credit analysis and risk management best practices.
Support credit policy development and participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and client experience.
Commercial Portfolio Manager Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration preferred; advanced degree or professional certification (CFA, CPA, or CRCM) a plus.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of commercial credit experience with demonstrated expertise in credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
Strong knowledge of commercial lending products, treasury solutions, and loan structuring.
Proficiency with loan origination systems and portfolio management software; advanced Excel skills required.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex credit information clearly to management, Lenders, and the Board.
Professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and senior leadership.
