Graphic Designer / Production Artist$20 – $25 /hrSan Diego, CAIn-House | San Diego, CAThe OpportunityInnoVision Marketing Group is looking for a Graphic Designer / Production Artist to join our creative team and help bring client brands, campaigns, and marketing initiatives to life.This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys both creative problem-solving and hands-on production. You’ll work closely with the VP of Design, senior designers, and account teams to transform client needs, marketing strategy, and creative direction into polished, effective visual communications.We are looking for someone who understands that great design isn’t simply about making something look good. It must have a strategy behind it. The ability to understand the objective, audience, brand, and desired outcome of a project and translate that strategy into effective visual communication is a must.The ability to develop impactful, memorable logos and brand identities is also an important part of this role. Candidates should understand the principles of strong logo design and be able to create original visual identities that are strategically relevant, distinctive, versatile, and capable of representing a brand across multiple applications.From developing layouts and selecting typography to creating logos, refining creative assets, and preparing final materials, you’ll play an important role in ensuring every piece of work is visually strong, strategically sound, accurate, and aligned with the client’s objectives.This is a collaborative, deadline-driven environment where attention to detail, creativity, strategic thinking, organization, and the ability to take direction are essential.What You’ll DoDesign & ProductionCreate advertising, marketing, promotional, branding, and client-facing materials based on established strategy, creative direction, and project specifications.Develop thoughtful layouts that balance imagery, typography, copy, and other visual elements.Apply strong design principles including composition, hierarchy, typography, spacing, visual consistency, and brand identity.Create impactful, original logos and visual identity concepts that strategically communicate a brand’s positioning, personality, and objectives.Understand the strategy behind an assignment and use that strategy to guide design decisions rather than designing solely from an aesthetic perspective.Think about the intended audience, message, medium, and desired outcome when developing creative solutions.Apply strategic thinking to design choices including typography, imagery, color, composition, hierarchy, and overall visual direction.Adapt and refine creative assets based on feedback from the VP of Design, senior designers, account leads, and clients.Prepare accurate, polished, production-ready files while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.Ensure designs meet project specifications, brand standards, dimensions, and other production requirements.Research client products, services, competitors, industries, audiences, and campaigns to better understand project objectives and inform creative decisions.Collaboration & CommunicationPartner with account leads and the creative team to understand project requirements, strategy, timelines, and client expectations.Present work for review and be prepared to explain the thinking and strategy behind creative decisions.Incorporate feedback thoughtfully into subsequent revisions.Participate in internal and select client meetings as needed, taking clear notes and identifying important project details.Contribute ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate effectively throughout the creative process.Work collaboratively with designers and colleagues across departments to support shared project goals.Organization & Project ManagementManage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.Organize priorities and workflows to effectively balance projects with varying levels of urgency.Communicate potential challenges, questions, or timeline concerns proactively.Take ownership of assigned projects and follow them through from initial direction to final production.Support the creative team with additional design and production assignments as needed.What You BringRequiredStrong understanding of graphic design fundamentals, including layout, typography, composition, hierarchy, branding, and visual communication.Demonstrated ability to create impactful, original logos and visual identities.Strong understanding of how marketing and brand strategy applies to design and the ability to translate strategic objectives into effective visual communications.Ability to think conceptually while also executing work with precision.Ability to accurately follow creative direction and translate specifications into finished design work.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, accurate work.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Working knowledge of current graphic design platforms and industry-standard design tools.Ability to receive feedback professionally and incorporate revisions effectively.Portfolio showcasing strong graphic design and production work, including examples of logo and/or brand identity development.PreferredAssociate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field.1–2 years of professional experience in graphic design, production art, marketing, advertising, or a related field.Experience working in an agency, marketing, advertising, or other deadline-driven creative environment.The Ideal CandidateYou may be a great fit for this role if you
