Job DescriptionDescription\n \nSummary:\nJoin our Ambulatory Access Center team as a key connection point in delivering exceptional patient care. In this high-volume, phone-based role, the Ambulatory Access Center Representative serves as the primary voice patients and families rely on—handling inbound and outbound calls to schedule appointments, coordinate care, and guide patients across pediatric primary, specialty, and surgical services. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring timely access to care while providing compassionate, professional customer service and maintaining accurate registration and financial information. If you’re passionate about helping others and making every patient interaction meaningful, we invite you to apply.\nPerforms a variety of complex administrative duties for patients in need of routine and/or urgent appointments, medical procedures, tests, and associated ancillary services in an ambulatory in/outpatient setting. Assess patients’ needs, including but not limited to, financial counseling, interpreter services, social services and refers to appropriate person or area. Alerts providers to emergent patient care needs.\nResponsibilities:\n\nReceives and directs phone calls from patients and physician offices\nSchedules patients for treatment by multiple providers and treatment areas, and arranges a variety of associated tests and procedures according to established guidelines and specific criteria\nPrioritizes appointments in a manner that fosters optimum patient care, efficient utilization of physician’s clinical staff, as well as equipment and facilities\nHandles urgent patient care calls and may alert providers to emergent patient care symptoms and concerns\nSchedules urgent care appointments as needed and directed by physician\nGreets patients for scheduled and/or urgent care appointments and procedures\nConfirms and verifies patient demographic and insurance information\nCollect co-payments from patients upon arrival when applicable\nObtains signatures of consent from patient/guardian for treatment authorization and insurance/billing information\nCollaborates with insurers to obtain patients’ prior-authorizations for procedures and tests as needed\nFollows guidelines established by insurers to ensure that pre-authorization, pre-certification, and physician referrals for treatment are obtained prior to patient visits.\nVerifies eligibility for procedures or tests from various health care institutions\nReviews and audits billing discrepancy reports and researches errors for resolution\nMaintains accurate and timely records, logs, charges, files, and other related information as required\nPerforms a variety of related administrative and clerical duties, such as retrieving files and other records, faxing, collating, data entry, and relaying messages to physicians, residents and staff\nPrepares special reports or spreadsheets for physicians as requested\nComplies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives\nComplies with all health and safety regulations and requirements\nContributes in maintaining a respectful environment of professionalism, tolerance, and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors\nPerforms other duties as required.\n\nRequirements:\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED required\nProficient in software and computer systems\nKnowledgeable of business office terminology / procedures\nAbility to multi task and work under stressful situation\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\n1+ year of customer service experience required\nExperience with medical office terminology preferred\n\nWork Schedule:\n8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday\nWork Type:\nFull Time\n
