About the role

Assistant Project Manager Our client is a long-established Northeast general contractor with more than thirty years building in the region. Their work runs from luxury urban residences and fine suburban custom homes through to large, technically complex institutional and commercial projects. They build new, and they convert, renovate and restore. This role sits in the firm's Property Services Division. Where most builders hand over the keys and move on, Property Services looks after homes the firm already has a relationship with - diagnosing and resolving building issues, running renovations and smaller custom projects, and staying in front of the homeowner throughout. It is a division built on long client relationships, not one-off jobs.
The role: You support the Project Manager and the field team across every phase of a job - managing drawings, requests for information and submittals, keeping subcontractor contracts and insurance current, sitting in the weekly project meetings, coordinating between the office and the field, and carrying the job through punch list and final documentation. This is genuine assistant project manager work on expensive homes.
Responsibilities: Keep project drawings current and distributed. Raise and track requests for information, and chase the answers. Manage the submittal process - samples and specifications to the architect for approval before anything is ordered. Chase subcontractor contracts and certificates of insurance before any trade sets foot on site. Attend weekly project meetings and circulate the minutes. Coordinate between the office and the field. Carry the closeout - punch list, warranties, and operation and maintenance manuals.
What We Are Looking For: Experience assisting on residential construction projects with a general contractor. Confident reading construction drawings. Organized, and persistent about following up until you get an answer. Some exposure to high-end residential finishes is an advantage. A degree in construction management, engineering or a related field is preferred, not required. Based in or relocating to the Greater Boston area.
Benefits: Medical coverage begins on your first day of employment. There is no waiting period, and the firm pays 75% of the premium. The firm funds the entire deductible through an HRA - up to $3,000 individual and $6,000 family. Dental and vision plans are available alongside medical.401(k) after ninety days, matched at 100% of your deferrals up to 3% of salary. Employer-paid life and AD&D cover at $100,000 each, plus short-term and long-term disability, all at no cost to you. Vacation starts at two weeks and grows by a day each year - three weeks at five years, four at ten, five at fifteen. One week of personal and sick time, and ten paid holidays. Company cell phone and laptop, and professional licenses related to your work paid in full. Incentive plan eligibility after one year, based on personal and company performance.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
