Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Web Sphere Administrator / Middleware Administrator to support enterprise-scale, business-critical applications and middleware infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IBM Web Sphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS), Web Sphere Liberty, IBM MQ, Linux/UNIX, and middleware automation. This role will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and production support of middleware platforms supporting critical enterprise applications. The position requires someone who can work independently, collaborate across application and infrastructure teams, troubleshoot complex production issues, and support ongoing maintenance and phased application rollouts.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot IBM Web Sphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) and Web Sphere Liberty environments. Manage Web Sphere Liberty configurations, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options. Administer and support IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Web Sphere Message Broker, Cognos, and related middleware technologies. Perform middleware upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and application deployments. Use Ansible for middleware administration, automation, configuration management, and deployments. Utilize Git for source control and configuration management. Support CI/CD processes using Jenkins, Cloud Bees, or similar tools. Implement Configuration as Code and Dev Ops practices across middleware environments. Troubleshoot Java/JVM and middleware-related issues and perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA).Support production middleware infrastructure for enterprise-wide applications. Work closely with application development, infrastructure, database, and operations teams. Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Participate in 24x 7 production support, including nights/weekends when required.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Middleware Administration experience. Strong hands-on experience with IBM Web Sphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS).Strong experience administering Web Sphere Liberty. Experience working with Linux/UNIX-based platforms. Hands-on experience with IBM MQ and related middleware technologies. Experience with Ansible, Git, and middleware automation. Good understanding of CI/CD and Dev Ops methodologies. Experience troubleshooting Java/JVM-related errors. Understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and RCA skills. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Jenkins/Cloud Bees, IBM HTTP Server, Web Sphere Message Broker, Oracle Web Logic, Cognos, Configuration as Code, and enterprise application deployment automation is highly preferred.
