Role Description: The Physician Assistant will work full time on-site in Rockville, MD, supporting orthopaedic physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting patient histories and physical examinations, assisting with diagnosis and treatment planning, and performing procedures within scope of practice. The role includes ordering and interpreting imaging and laboratory tests, prescribing medications as appropriate, and providing pre- and post-operative care. The Physician Assistant will educate patients and families on treatment plans, rehabilitation, and preventive care, and will document all encounters in the medical record. Additional duties may include assisting in the operating room, participating in follow-up visits, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications: Current Physician Assistant (PA) license in Maryland and national certification (NCCPA) or eligibility for certification. Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Clinical experience or strong interest in orthopaedics, sports medicine, or related specialties. Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, and basic orthopaedic procedures. Strong skills in interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and managing follow-up care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment, manage time effectively, and prioritize patient needs. Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards. Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications. CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
