About the role
- Communicate with responsible parties to resolve outstanding balances prior to attorney referral
- Identify when Power of Attorney, guardianship, or conservatorship is required to support collection efforts
- Refer accounts to collection agencies or attorneys as appropriate
- Resolve denied and underpaid claims in a timely and accurate manner
- Screen Medicaid Pending applications for New York State facilities to identify potential issues prior to admission
- Utilize Prime Claims, PointClickCare (PCC), and state/insurance portals to review account status, validate accuracy, and confirm prior collection efforts have been exhausted
- Use PointClickCare (PCC) to review payments, adjustments, and collection notes, and compile documentation to support referrals and collection activities
- Partner with internal counsel and the Director of AR Operations on complex accounts requiring additional review and resolution

- Qualifications of a Skilled Nursing Collections Specialist include:5–7 years of experience in Skilled Nursing collections
- Familiarity with healthcare billing practices and regulations
- Proficiency in Point Click Care (PCC), standard office equipment and computer applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with facility team members, collection attorneys and their paralegals
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with strong organizational skills, while supporting and mentoring team members
