Role Description: The Grants Writer is a full-time, remote role responsible for securing funding that supports High Desert Energy’s mission and programs. This role involves researching grant opportunities, aligning funding prospects with organizational priorities, and drafting clear, compelling proposals and applications. The Grants Writer will coordinate with program, finance, and leadership teams to gather information, develop narratives, and prepare budgets and supporting materials. Daily tasks include managing a grants calendar, tracking deadlines and submission requirements, maintaining accurate records of proposals and outcomes, and supporting reporting and compliance for awarded grants. The Grants Writer will also contribute to fundraising strategies, help refine messaging for funders, and provide insights into trends in the funding landscape.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong Grant Writing and Proposal Writing skills focused on clear, persuasive, and accurate funding requests. Candidates should possess experience in Prospect Research and Grant Administration to identify opportunities, manage requirements, and maintain organized records. Candidates should possess skills in Fundraising and relationship-building with funders to support long-term resource development. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and funding agencies. Strong analytical skills to interpret guidelines, align projects with funder priorities, and develop realistic budgets and outcomes. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with energy, sustainability, or environmental sectors is beneficial, as is experience with government, foundation, or corporate grants. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Communications, English, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
