About the role
About This Role Walser Insurance Services is an independent agency, which means we shop your policy across 20+ carriers to find the right fit and make sure you never have to overpay for insurance again. We're growing fast, and we're adding to a small, high-performing team that punches well above its weight.
This is an entry point into insurance. You do not need prior insurance or claims experience. Most of our team was trained from the ground up. What you do need is the ability to learn quickly, stay organized across a lot of moving pieces, and keep your footing when the phone doesn't stop.
This role is fully remote, but you must live in the Twin Cities metro area. The team gets together roughly every other month for team meetings most are optional, but we ask that you're able to attend in person at least once or twice a year.
What You'll Do Day to day, you'll be the first voice our customers hear:
Answer inbound calls and handle policy changes adding or removing vehicles, adjusting coverage, updating driver and household information
Field billing questions: why a rate changed, how to make a payment, what a renewal looks like
Work our cancellation list, following up with customers before a policy lapses
Run new business check-ins to collect required documentation prior insurance, household verification, and other underwriting items
Support customers filing claims and help them navigate the carrier process
Document every customer interaction thoroughly and accurately
Manage return mail, daily logs, and agency spreadsheets
As you build your foundation, the role grows:
Quoting new policies across our carrier network
Renewal reshops reviewing a customer's rate at renewal and shopping it against 20+ carriers to find them a better option
Writing new policies and conducting household annual reviews
Identifying cross-sell opportunities and setting appointments with our life-licensed staff
This progression is the reason we're hiring. As you take on quoting and reshops, it frees the rest of the team to take on more there's a clear path here, and we promote from within.
What You Bring Customer service experience call center, retail, hospitality, collections, telecom, or anywhere you've handled volume and difficult conversations
Genuine comfort with technology. On a normal day, our team has 2030 browser tabs open across a dozen different carrier portals. This is the single biggest predictor of who succeeds here
Ability to multitask and pivot quickly between systems, customers, and priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong attention to detail in documentation
Active MN Property & Casualty license, or the ability to pass the P&C exam within 60 days of hire
Uphold Walser's Core Values: Do The Right Thing, Lead By Example, Display Positive Energy, Be Open Minded

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
