About the role

Description
About Us: At Gifthealth, we’re revolutionizing the way people experience healthcare by simplifying the process of managing prescriptions and health services. Our mission is to provide a seamless, personalized, and efficient healthcare experience for all our customers. We’re a dynamic, innovative, and customer-centric company dedicated to making a positive impact on people’s lives.
Position Summary: We're looking for a Director of Pharmacy Procurement to lead how we source, contract, and manage the pharmaceutical supply that powers every patient's path from intake to delivery and adherence. Reporting to the Senior Director Pharmacy Supply Chain, you'll own the manufacturer and wholesaler relationships, pricing strategy, and supply chain resilience that keep our Digi+Hub running without gaps, lags, or friction.
Key Responsibilities: Procurement strategy:
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing for specialty and traditional medications, negotiating pricing, terms, and supply commitments with manufacturers, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations.
  • Manufacturer and distributor relationships:
  • Build and manage partnerships with drug manufacturers and major distributors to secure priority allocation, favorable terms, and dependable supply, especially for high-demand specialty medications.
  • Contract lifecycle management:
  • Own the full RFP, negotiation, renewal, and vendor performance process, keeping every agreement aligned with cost, quality, and service goals.
  • Cross-functional demand planning:
  • Partner with clinical, pharmacy operations, and finance teams to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and prevent stockouts across the prescription journey.
  • Compliance and risk management:
  • Ensure procurement practices meet DSCSA, state board of pharmacy, and payer requirements for drug-related spend, and extend that same rigor to data privacy, security, and insurance/indemnification standards across enterprise vendor contracts.
  • Market intelligence:
  • Track drug pricing trends, rebate opportunities, and supply constraints (including GLP-1 and other specialty categories) to proactively adjust sourcing strategy.
  • Team leadership:
  • Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing procurement team as Gifthealth scales.
  • Data analytics:
  • Design and build forecasting models for automation, and create dashboards to track supplier spend, inventory, and budgeting. Transform data and techniques into real-time predictive analytics that improve operational efficiency and drive supply chain optimization.
  • Categories of spend managed:
  • Own procurement across categories beyond drug product, including:
  • Corporate/technology procurement:
  • SaaS and software contracts (Five9, CallMiner, Forethought, etc.), IT hardware, and telephony.
  • Facilities and capital equipment:
  • Buildout costs for potential new site locations, pharmacy automation capital purchases, and packaging/supplies beyond drug product.
  • Professional services:
  • Consulting, staffing agencies, legal, and accreditation/compliance vendors.
  • Non-pharma operational supplies:
  • Shipping and logistics contracts, and office and site supplies.
  • Marketing/vendor spend:
  • Agency contracts and production vendors.
  • Governance and process ownership:
  • Set the enterprise-wide standards that keep procurement consistent and auditable, including:
  • Procurement policy:
  • Own enterprise-wide procurement policy, approval thresholds, and PO/contract workflow.
  • Vendor and contract records:
  • Maintain a centralized vendor master and contract repository across departments.
  • Budget partnership:
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting across all cost centers.
Qualifications: Required 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare procurement and supply chain, including direct negotiation with drug manufacturers and wholesalers. Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution channels, drug pricing structures, and regulatory requirements such as DSCSA and state pharmacy law. Proven track record managing complex vendor contracts and delivering measurable cost savings. Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, pharmacy, or a related field. Strong negotiation, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills. Interest in corporate procurement or strategic sourcing (SaaS/tech contracts, facilities, capital projects), not just drug supply chain. Contract and legal negotiation experience beyond manufacturer agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, and licensing terms. Preferred Experience with specialty pharmacy or direct-to-patient (DTP) delivery models. Familiarity with GLP-1 and other high-demand specialty medication supply chains. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
