Writing Center Consultant Position Information Position Title - Writing Center Consultant Unit Name - Writing Center Salary Grade - Student (Institutional) Number of Months - Student Worker Full-time or Part-time - Part-Time Hours per week - 6 Proposed Annual Salary, Hourly Rate or One-time payment Essential Duties - The essential duties of Consultants will be assist students with writing-related issues. This may be in person as well as online.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should be at least a sophomore in standing. Applicants should have passed both Comp I and II with at least a B in each course, but preference will be for an A in each course. Applicants are expected to have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference will also be given to applicants who are familiar with both MLA and APA documentation.
Job Description: Summary - Writing Center Consultants will primarily work six hours a week (two three-hour shifts) in the Writing Center located in Painter Hall. During that time, consultants will assist walk-in students who might need help with essays and other papers. Consultants might help with grammar, development, documentation, and other writing-related issues. When not addressing students in person, consultants will also be expected to respond to any online submissions regarding the same writing-related problems. Hours of Availability - The Writing Center is typically open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to Noon on Friday. However, failure to disclose may disqualify a candidate.
