About the role
Overview
You will build and lead a new enterprise PMO to align strategy with execution across a global, matrixed organization. You’ll establish an enterprise hub-and-spoke governance model, set standards, and drive measurable outcomes through a Center of Excellence. You’ll influence senior leaders, shape the operating model, and enable divisions to retain agility while delivering strategic initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to transform how initiatives are prioritized, governed, and realized at Pacific Life.

Responsibilities Create the ePMO vision, operating model, roadmap, and service portfolio aligned with enterprise strategy Build and lead a high-performing team across portfolio, program, change, analytics, and governance Establish a practical center of excellence with standards, tools, and coaching while avoiding bureaucracy Define roles, decision rights, and escalation paths in a hub-and-spoke model with dotted-line connections to division/function PMOsEstablish an enterprise-wide portfolio governance framework linking priorities, investment, risks, and value Design executive governance forums for timely decisions and accountability for outcomes Standardize intake, business cases, stage gates, benefits realization, and closure Develop scalable standards, templates, and controls for portfolio, program, and project management Implement agile, hybrid, and traditional delivery methods as appropriate Lead health reviews and recovery planning for strategically important initiatives Foster a connected ePMO community and influence senior leaders to adopt enterprise standards Develop dashboards and narratives to surface progress, risks, and value and enable better investment decisions Advance modern PPM platforms, workflow automation, data, and AI-enabled tools Build enterprise program management capability through learning, coaching, and communities of practice
Key requirements 15+ years in enterprise portfolio management, transformation, strategy execution, or related field Proven success building or resetting an enterprise PMO and adopting governance and standards Experience in financial services or a regulated industry with governance, risk, and regulatory knowledge Ability to influence across a matrixed, international organization without direct authority Experience building and developing high-performing teams and hub-and-spoke PMO models Track record of governance frameworks adoption, investment prioritization, and benefits realization Strong business and financial acumen connecting strategy to outcomes and capacity planning Exceptional executive presence, relationship-building, and ability to simplify complex information Bachelor’s degree; MBA or PMP/PgMP/PfMP or equivalent preferredexecutive presenceinfluence without authoritystrong communicationenterprise portfolio governanceportfolio management frameworksstakeholder management
