Country Manager For Japan Are you a visionary leader in the Japanese energy sector? Ready to spearhead the market expansion of a global clean energy and power infrastructure giant? Our client is a leading global manufacturer specialized in solar power, energy storage, and industrial power distribution solutions. As Japan accelerates its energy transition, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Country Manager to champion our client's strategic entry and full-cycle business growth in Japan. As the Country Manager for Japan, you will be the face of our client's business in the region, holding ultimate accountability for market success, P&L, and strategic partnerships.
What's in it for You? Total Ownership: The autonomy to build a business from the ground up with the backing of a global heavyweight. Green Energy Impact: Be at the forefront of Japan's green transformation and carbon-neutral initiatives. Competitive Package: Attractive executive compensation, performance incentives, and clear career progression. Work from anywhere in Japan: This is a fully remote role. You can be based in any major Japanese city with the flexibility of a 100% work-from-home setup.
Responsibilities: Market Pioneer: Architect and execute the company's market entry strategy, scaling business operations and driving revenue growth across Japan. Alliance Builder: Cultivate and leverage high-level relationships with major Japanese utilities, grid operators, IPPs, and key regulatory bodies. Solution Champion: Introduce and deploy the company's cutting-edge portfolio, including utility-scale solar and wind solutions, advanced energy storage systems (BESS), smart grids, and EV charging infrastructure. Global Liaison: Partner closely with global HQ to ensure seamless product localization, competitive pricing strategies, and absolute compliance with Japanese industrial and electrical standards. Industry Voice: Represent the business as the chief corporate ambassador at major national energy summits, exhibitions, and executive-level negotiations.
Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of proven success in business development, sales, or country-level management within Japan's energy or power systems infrastructure. Network and Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Japan's utility ecosystem, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics. A strong existing network of energy stakeholders is highly valued. Deal Maker: A documented track record of successfully negotiating and closing high-value, large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy contracts.
Languages: Fluent Japanese and professional proficiency in English are required for HQ collaboration.
Location: Based in or open to relocation to major Japanese hubs. Mindset: An entrepreneurial champion—thriving in agile, fast-paced, and cross-cultural environments.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
