About the role
Finance Department Budget Team MemberThe City of Alameda is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join the Finance department's Budget team. As a member of the Finance Department, you will utilize its financial ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and Budgeting systems, engage with multiple City departments, and support the Controller and the Budget Team through its biennial cycle. Currently, the team is completing a Five-Year Financial Forecast and will soon collaborate across City departments to develop its FY 27-29 Biennial Budget. This position is a great way to begin your career in governmental finance, part time. Weekly schedules are flexible but may not exceed 28 hours per week Monday through Thursday (the City is closed Fridays, except for essential services).Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following qualities: Interest in exploring a career in government finance; Proficiency in data analysis and facility with Microsoft Office Excel; Readiness to learn government software systems, including Tyler Munis, Open Gov, and TrueComp; Ability to track and make progress on multiple assignments; Solid written and oral communication skills; Candidates with education or experience in municipal budgets, public administration, financial planning, analysis, reporting, budgeting, and/or accounting are desired, but not required. This position is in City Hall and works within the Finance Department. This is not a remote work opportunity. Part-time positions at the City of Alameda may be eligible for limited benefits.
