About the role

Fingerprint Clerk The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Fingerprint Clerk in the Human Resources Services division. Under general supervision, the Fingerprint Clerk operates fingerprinting equipment to obtain and transmit fingerprint images and accompanying data to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and compiles and maintains billing and related records. The current assignment is located in San Diego, CA as part of the Human Resources department in the Human Resources Services division within SDCOE. Please note that while this current assignment is for the location listed, employees of SDCOE may be administratively reassigned to other locations based on organizational needs. Requirements / Qualifications The Fingerprint Clerk requires a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to one (1) year of responsible office/clerical experience demonstrating the use of independent judgment and involving strict and continuous attention to detail in recordkeeping. Experience working with spreadsheet and database applications is required. Upon employment, this position also requires the ability to be certified under the Department of Justice Fingerprint Rolling Certification Program. DOJ certification criteria include: legal California residency at time of certification; a minimum age of 18; and satisfactory completion of a prescribed application and criminal background investigation. The examination process may consist of one or more of the following examination components: a multiple-choice examination, an oral examination, a written examination, a practical demonstration, a performance examination, and/or a technical evaluation of the application. The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is terminated. This position is full-time and will offer the classified benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalPERS state retirement system.
