About the role
- Lead and inspire a team of gas engineering professionals, keeping a pulse on team morale and engagement and fostering engagement, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Oversee staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational activities to support the successful delivery of gas infrastructure projects
- Mentor and develop technical staff and managers, promoting high‐quality work that meets safety, schedule, and budget expectations
- Directly manage subsurface gas and electric utility infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity, from planning and proposals through execution and closeout
- Monitor project financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support business practice goals
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with leadership and project teams, sharing performance updates, milestones, and successes
- Champion quality control, risk management, regulatory compliance, and project audits to support safe, reliable, and resilient gas solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience required, including technical leadership and client-facing project management experience Experience managing utility infrastructure projects required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Expert knowledge of engineering fundamentals and specialty areas with a deep understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
- Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office required
- Proven success as a leader and ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams—strategic, technically astute, and client-focused
- An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups
- Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and build relationships across the company, including managing task leaders and project managers
- Strong ability to resolve matters in a timely manner and lead initiatives and projects to completion with a sense of urgency
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential matters, sensitive information, and challenging situations with discretion Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, financial performance, scope development, and proposal strategy
- Experience supporting natural gas transmission and distribution systems, utility permitting and regulatory compliance, construction support, and engineering oversight preferred
- Lead high-impact gas infrastructure projects that strengthen reliability and support the safe, efficient delivery of energy
- Collaborate with experienced professionals who value technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and practical innovation
