Forward Deployed Engineer, New York
swappNew York (NY)
About the role
SWAPP builds Frank, an agentic AI architect that reads and writes the live BIM model inside Autodesk Revit and Graphisoft ArchiCAD, executing real documentation, modeling, and QA work for many of the world’s leading architecture firms. We pair deep architectural domain knowledge with optimization, computational geometry, and modern AI to put genuine automation on the critical path of production. Our team brings together architects, engineers, AI researchers, and data scientists across Tel Aviv and the US.
The role:
A Forward Deployed Engineer is an engineer who understands architecture from the inside. Maybe you trained as an architect and found yourself writing more Dynamo graphs and Revit add-ins than drawing details. Maybe you are a software developer who started out in an architecture studio. Either way, you think in both code and construction documents, and you want to build the AI that changes how buildings get documented. You will spend your weeks with our New York customers, inside their studios and on their live projects, and you will write the code that makes Frank work for them. When a firm needs a new capability, you don’t just log the request: you understand the workflow, build it, test it on their models, and ship it. Then you carry what you learned back into the core product.
What you’ll do:
Build and extend Frank’s capabilities inside Revit in C# (Revit API,.NET) and Python, turning agent decisions into precise, production-ready model changes. Embed with our New York firms, learn how their teams design and document, and turn real friction into working software, fast. Encode each firm’s standards (annotation, graphic conventions, sheet setup, QA logic) into skills Frank applies consistently. Work on the agent itself: tools, prompts, retrieval, and evaluation, so Frank gets more reliable with every project. Close the loop with product and engineering in Tel Aviv, shaping the roadmap from what you see in the field. You are An architect who sees yourself as an engineer, or a software developer with a background in architecture (a B.Arch or equivalent, or real time on architecture production teams).A capable programmer: comfortable shipping production code in C# and/or Python, with 3+ years writing software or automation professionally. Deep in Revit. You know the Revit API, families, view templates, and what a clean CD set looks like. Curious about LLMs and agents, and excited to build AI that does real work rather than demos. Comfortable as the face of SWAPP on site, earning the trust of principals, BIM managers, and project teams. Based in or around New York and happy to spend a good part of your week in customer offices. We are open to outstanding engineers elsewhere in the US.Bonus Hands-on experience with LLM tooling: tool-calling, RAG, MCP, or agent frameworks. Computational design: Dynamo, Grasshopper, or custom Revit add-ins you built and shipped. Full-stack or cloud experience (AWS, SQL/NoSQL, data pipelines).Test automation or QA experience on AEC software. Working at SWAPPWork directly with a senior, product-driven team and see your code reach leading firms fast. Real ownership and impact from day one, on a product that sits on the critical path of real projects. We value curiosity, candor, and a Be-Nice attitude: genuine care for your teammates and our customers.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
