About the role

Undergraduate Research Assistant The Undergraduate Research Assistant in Biological and Environmental Sciences is responsible for conducting biotic surveys in south Alabama associated with the Blackwater Wetland Gradient study. This work includes but is not limited to: traveling to field locations, collecting data, completing data sheets, and participating in data entry and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience conducting fieldwork
  • Macroinvertebrate sampling and identification skills
  • Bird survey and identification skills.
  • Plant identification skills.
  • Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? - Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
  • Work HoursTo be determined. Must be available for 10 hours per week throughout the semester
  • List any hazardous conditions or physical demands required by this position
  • Ability to carry 10 pounds of weight
  • Ability to navigate up and down stream banks
  • Ability to conduct work outdoors in warm weather wearing PPE (waders, etc.)Does this position have supervisory responsibility? - No
