About the role

Earn more and give back as a part-time instructor doing a few courses per year: 1 Saturday + 5 Weeknights = 1 Course. Train America employs journeyman and master level tradespeople as Instructors (we call them Guides) to train the next generation of HVACR, electrical, plumbing and maintenance technicians at our training centers embedded at distribution partner locations. Your Responsibilities as an Instructor: Inspire a group of students as their instructor. Facilitate elearning and simulations for students to learn the theories. Facilitate and oversee hands-on activities in the lab. Requirements and what we are looking for:5 years of experience working in one of the following trades: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Facilities/Commercial Maintenance, Industrial MaintenanceA license or certification in your trade where Texas requires one, in good standing — for example a Journeyman or Master license, or a Journeyman or Master Plumber license. EPA 608 for refrigerant work. Professional communication, interpersonal and team-building skills. Ability to commute to one of our training center locations and teach at least 4 bootcamps per year.
What we do: NOT require: No leaving your job. This role is designed for people still working in the trade. Staying in the field makes you a better instructor, not a conflicted one. No teaching experience. No degree. Your license and your years in the field are the credential. No travel. Your training is conducted at one of our training centers. No long-term commitment. You sign-up for the bootcamps that fit your schedule. No curriculum to write. Locations you can teach at: Houston, Texas: 14420 W Sylvanfield Drive, Suite 110, Houston, TX 77014 Compensation Hourly pay between $40 - 50 per hour depending on experience and credentials. About Train America Train America is the farm system for the trades. We run short, hands-on bootcamps in HVACR, electrical, plumbing, facility maintenance and industrial maintenance, inside of distribution partner locations like Ferguson. Our bootcamps are used by employers aiming to systematically ramp-up their new hires as well as with new entrants to the trades looking to start their career.
