About the role
Amherst County Public SafetyOur dedicated EMT/FFs and Paramedic/FFs respond to over 5,000 calls to service each year. Calls originate from areas in both urban and rural settings, giving our providers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to develop their patient care skills transporting critical patients over long distances. We utilize Zoll monitors, a Hamilton T1 ventilator, POC Ultrasound, and IV pumps to provide the best care to our patients. Coupled with a progressive Medical Director and agency-specific protocols, Amherst County Public Safety is a premiere EMS organization in the Blue Ridge region. We also partner with the Amherst County volunteer fire departments for training and call response. Our staff are cross-trained in firefighting operations and can assist where needed on the fireground. We hold quarterly department-wide training and alternate the topics each quarter between firefighting/rescue and EMS.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
