About the role

Facility Helper The Facility Helper supports the Building Engineering team in maintaining the safe, clean, and efficient operation of commercial building systems and facilities. This entry-level position assists with routine maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance activities, building inspections, vendor coordination, and general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service to tenants and building occupants. The Facility Helper also assists with documenting and implementing site safety plans and ensures all work follows ABM Engineering Services' operational standards, guidelines, and site-specific policies and procedures. Pay Range is: $27.81- $27.81 hourly rate | Weekly pay Location: Sacramento, Ca Shift: Day shift | Monday - Friday The pay listed is the salary range for this position. For information about ABM's benefits, visit ABM 2025 Employee Benefits | Frontline Team Members Essential Duties and Responsibilities Building Support Assist Building Engineers with daily maintenance and repair activities. Help perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Support routine building inspections and report any maintenance concerns or safety hazards. Assist with changing filters, replacing light bulbs, cleaning equipment, and maintaining mechanical rooms. Help maintain building appearance and cleanliness in operational areas. Work Order Assistance Respond to tenant service requests under the direction of the Building Engineer. Assist in troubleshooting minor building maintenance issues. Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner. Document completed tasks and notify supervisors of any unresolved issues. Facility Operations Support building moves, setups, and special projects. Assist with inventory management and organization of maintenance supplies and tools. Receive and transport materials, equipment, and deliveries throughout the property. Help monitor building systems and report unusual conditions. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Report safety hazards, accidents, or equipment malfunctions immediately. Assist with emergency response activities when needed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED preferred. 1+ year of maintenance, janitorial, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred. Basic knowledge of hand tools and general maintenance practices. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn building systems and maintenance procedures. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Good communication and customer service skills. Preferred Experience working in commercial buildings, facilities, or property management environments. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems. OSHA 10 Certification or willingness to obtain. Valid driver's license (if required by location).
