About the role
Specialized Teachers for Gym, Art, Music, Life Skills, and Social-Emotional Learning for Special Needs Students Teachers who lead gym, art, music, life skills, and social-emotional learning classes for special needs students offer far more than instruction—they provide guidance, encouragement, and support tailored to each learner's unique abilities and challenges. These educators cultivate an inclusive environment, helping every student flourish physically, creatively, emotionally, and socially.
Main Responsibilities:
Physical Education (Gym): Designing adaptive physical activities that improve strength, coordination, and confidence, while ensuring every student feels included and supported. Art Instruction: Guiding students through accessible creative projects that nurture imagination, self-expression, and fine motor skills, adapting materials and techniques as needed. Music Education: Using rhythm, song, and musical exploration to engage students' senses, foster communication, and build self-esteem, with modifications to suit a variety of abilities. Life Skills: Teaching practical daily living skills—such as self-care, communication, and organization—empowering students to gain independence and participate more fully in their communities. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Creating lessons and activities that develop emotional awareness, resilience, healthy relationships, and positive social interactions. Working collaboratively with therapists, families, and other educators to develop individualized plans and celebrate student progress. Fostering a safe, accepting classroom where students feel valued, respected, and inspired to try new things. Continually adapting lessons and strategies to meet evolving needs, using patience, empathy, and creativity. Qualifications and Skills Experience with special needs students or relevant subject areas (Physical Education, Art, Music, Counseling, etc.). Experience within adaptive teaching techniques and knowledge of various disabilities. Strong communication, collaboration, and observational skills. Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for helping students with diverse needs reach their full potential. Commitment to ongoing professional development in inclusive education and social-emotional learning. These teachers play an essential role in nurturing the whole child—encouraging movement, creativity, self-advocacy, and emotional growth. Through their dedication and expertise, they empower special needs students to shine in every aspect of life.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
