location_onHouston, Texasacute Permanent A growing, technology-driven specialty chemical company is seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to lead strategic procurement initiatives, strengthen supplier partnerships, and deliver sustainable cost improvements across its operations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a strategic sourcing professional who understands how to leverage market intelligence, supplier relationships, and data-driven decision-making to improve profitability and supply chain performance. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this individual will oversee sourcing strategies, manage supplier negotiations, develop sourcing personnel, and collaborate with senior leadership to support long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management: Develop and implement category sourcing strategies, identify new suppliers, negotiate competitive contracts, and build long-term partnerships that improve cost efficiency, product quality, and supply reliability. Cost Reduction & Procurement Optimization: Lead initiatives to reduce total procurement costs through spend analysis, supplier consolidation, competitive bidding, contract negotiations, and improved purchasing strategies. Establish measurable savings targets and track financial results. Supply Chain Risk & Market Analysis: Evaluate raw material pricing, market trends, supplier capabilities, and potential supply disruptions. Develop alternative sourcing strategies to protect material availability and maintain operational continuity. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and mentor sourcing professionals while partnering with manufacturing, finance, operations, and supply chain leadership. Develop procurement performance metrics, reporting tools, and processes that support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Experience:
10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management, including demonstrated success leading strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, Chemistry, Operations, or a related field.
Technical & Analytical Expertise: Strong understanding of procurement analytics, supplier performance management, cost modeling, ERP systems, and sourcing KPIs. Experience identifying opportunities that deliver measurable, sustainable cost savings.
Leadership & Industry Knowledge: Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead teams, and manage complex supplier relationships. Experience sourcing chemicals, raw materials, or products supporting the energy or oilfield services industries is highly desirable. Familiarity with SOX compliance and procurement regulations is beneficial.
