NC State University is hiring a UTS- Temporary Web Designer at UNC Chapel Hill. The role involves completing development, implementing content and design updates, troubleshooting, and preparing a Word Press website for launch. The designer will collaborate with OIRPA staff to ensure a user-friendly and accessible site, applying expertise in HTML, CSS, and possibly Markdown. Highlights Complete and launch a Word Press-based office website, focusing on development, content updates, and troubleshooting. Utilize strong front-end web development skills, including HTML and CSS. Collaborate with OIRPA staff to address website needs and maintain accessibility standards. Familiarity with Gutenberg block editor, Word Press themes, and plugins is beneficial. Experience with digital accessibility guidelines such as W3C standards and WCAG 2.1 is required.
Preferred skills include: Markdown, Git-based version control (Git Hub/Git Lab), Pandoc, command-line tools, APIs, and programming languages like Python or Java Script.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and proven web design experience. Compensation is approximately $50 per hour.
Work schedule: Full-time Monday-Friday until October 9th, then part-time (~15 hours/week) through December 1; the role is remote but requires North Carolina residency.
