Remote People partners with well-established law firms across Chicago and beyond, connecting top legal talent with firms that need them. We're currently working with a Chicago-based firm with an active personal injury and insurance defense practice to find their next Legal Assistant.
About the Role:
This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to grow with a firm handling meaningful, high-volume casework. Our client firm handles cases from intake through resolution and needs a Legal Assistant who can keep their litigation team organized and moving efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Draft, format, and proofread legal correspondence, pleadings, and discovery documentsE-file with Illinois state and federal courts Track deadlines, statutes of limitations, and attorney calendars Request and organize medical records, police reports, and case documentation Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and medical providers Maintain case files and case management system entries Assist with trial prep, including exhibits and binders Qualifications 2+ years of legal assistant experience, ideally in PI or insurance defense Experience with Illinois e-filing procedures Proficiency with case management software (Needles, Filevine, etc.) and MS Office Strong organizational and communication skills
